Overview
Keri Blakinger is an investigative reporter for The Marshall Project, where she covers prisons, jails and capital punishment. She is the organizations’s first formerly incarcerated reporter, as she served 21 months in New York prisons following a drug arrest in 2010. After her release, she worked at the Ithaca Times, the New York Daily News and the Houston Chronicle. Her work has also appeared in the Washington Post Magazine, VICE, the BBC and NBC News. She is currently working on a memoir to be published with St. Martin’s Press in 2022. Her areas of expertise include prison conditions, mass incarceration, capital punishment and other criminal justice topics.
